The Traveling Physio

Hi, I’m Shannon! I graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University in 2016 and quickly discovered my calling, helping to improve peoples lives through exercise and movement. After working as a physiotherapy assistant for a few years, I became a registered Kinesiologist. I apply evidence-based research to observe the bigger picture of physical abilities, injury and movement as it relates to quality of life. I am confident and prepared to motivate and come along side you as you work toward your exercise goals. I am most comfortable helping you achieve your goals in YOUR most comfortable place, whether in a clinic setting or in your own home. I have many years experience caring for seniors in long-term care and retirement homes, with varying degrees of physical and cognitive abilities. However, as a mom of two young children, I have found new interest in learning about pregnancy and postpartum as it relates to movement and movement changes. I have first hand experience and would love to work with and support you through these incredible body and mind transitions. Outside of work, I love being a mom and watching my children discover life through each stage. I enjoy being outside, honing my gardening skills and spending time with my family on the farm. I can’t wait to meet you! Education and certifications - BA Kinesiology and Physical Education - R.Kin, Registered Kinesiologist - Bonefit Certified

Hi, I’m Valerie! I am a hard-working physiotherapist with a passion for helping others, and a drive to learn. I graduated from the University of Guelph in 2016 with an honours degree in bio-medical science. I knew at that time physiotherapy was the career for me, so I quickly jumped into my Master’s of Physical Therapy program at Queen’s University that fall. Since graduating from my physical therapy program in 2018 I have worked in different busy private practice settings in the Guelph/Elora-Fergus area treating a mix of orthopedic and pelvic physiotherapy clients.

Whether I’m treating orthopedic or pelvic physiotherapy clients, my favourite part of my practice is being able to explain my findings to help patients understand what their body is trying to tell them, and then work together with each patient to get them back to feeling their best. I place an emphasis on really getting to know each of my patients and understanding their specific goals with physiotherapy. In treatment I use various different techniques including: manual therapy, soft tissue release, acupuncture, dry needling, education and specialized exercise. Some of my favourite conditions to treat are any orthopedic concerns such as shoulder pain, hip and knee pain, and post-surgical rehab. In addition, I am also particularly interested in pregnancy and post-partum care.

Outside of work I enjoy working out, horseback riding, golfing, skiing, hiking, traveling, and spending quality time with family and friends.

I’m looking forward to meeting you and helping you on your journey!
